Felicitaciones a Janet Murguia

Mary Sanchez, writing in today's Kansas City Star:

"Kansas City, Kan., native Janet Murguia today will be named executive director of the National Council of La Raza, a leading organization for the country's 38 million Latinos.

Members of Murguia's Mexican-American family are well known for the classic immigrant experience of rising from humble beginnings to great achievement. She is one of seven children in a family that includes four lawyers, two of whom have become federal judges.

Murguia will leave her job as executive vice chancellor for university relations at the University of Kansas in March to assume the La Raza post, which will include the title of chief operating officer. The organization is based in Washington, D.C."
